Day 10
Sunday 7 Oct 218
We had our first snow in the night and Sangay, the ever smiling member of our team had decorated the food tent with sprigs of juniper giving breakfast a Christmas feel!
We set out in the mist and snow flurries and climbed to the Shinge La (5050m).
On the ascent, we saw strange conical plants (called Rheum Nobile) growing in improbable places and a large chorten on the pass marked the boundary of the Laya District. As we descended, a huge bank of moraine left by a glacier came into view and which holds back a very picturesque lake. The backdrop to this beautiful valley is Kang Che Da, the Great Tiger Mountain which we got only brief glimpses of through the cloud. We camped a short way down the valley at Limithang (4050m), in a meadow by the river.
Distance 15km 8hrs
